Held in Goa, the 9th World Ayurveda Congress & Arogya Expo 2022 is a platform to connect Ayurveda practitioners, medicine manufacturers, enthusiasts and academicians. WAC is primarily known to collect feedback, monitor progress and initiate missions accordingly. Having witnessed a highly welcoming response in the previous editions of WAC, Goa promises to be one of the largest congresses thus far. The 9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) was inaugurated on 8th December at Panaji, Goa.

Focal Theme “Ayurveda For One Health”

One Health is a thought which acknowledges that the health of human beings is closely linked to the health of all living beings and our shared environment. This idea is not new. In fact, it harkens back to the ancient times when Acharya Charaka not only recognized the phenomena of “lōkasammita purua – the Universe – man continuum” but also its impact on health. This concept has regained importance in recent times due to several factors.

”When one sees the way Ayush is rapidly progressing today, one must remember that the seed of this development lies in that decision. Our ancestors put Ayurveda in front of the world. ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ has been the spirit of India since the beginning. In 2015, the United Nations decided to celebrate the International Day of Yoga which is benefiting citizens all over the world. The Ayurveda Congress’ activities go a long way in propagating such traditional systems of healing and well-being all over the world,” said Union Minister Shripad Naik in his address.

The third edition of the ‘Ayushman’ comic book series was also released on this occasion. An MoU was signed between All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) and Rosenberg’s European Academy of Ayurveda, Germany to facilitate advanced studies in traditional Indian medicine systems.

“The upcoming satellite centre of All India Institute of Ayurveda in Goa will boost Ayurvedic tourism in the state. Goan students will get 50% reservation in admissions for various courses at the institute” said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

The event aims to showcase the efficacy and strength of the AYUSH systems of medicine at the global level. There are more than 300 Ayurveda-patronized companies in the International Arogya Expo of WAC. Individuals and institutions from India and abroad will showcase various programmes related to Ayurveda.
