To create electoral awareness amongst citizens and encourage them to participate in the electoral process, every year since 2011, National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on January 25 all across the country. Notably, the day marks the foundation day of Election Commission of India, i.e., January 25, 1950. The National Voters’ Day is also used to facilitate enrolment of voters, specially the newly eligible young voters. NVD is celebrated at the national, state, district, constituency and polling booth levels, which makes it one of the largest celebrations in the country.
The world’s largest democracy is continuously moving forward towards achieving the objectives of social, economic and political justice enshrined in the Constitution. All that is required for a stronger democracy is the united efforts of the Election Commission, governments, and citizens.
