Users of Digi Locker can now digitally store health records

Digi Locker, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s authentic documents exchange platform, has completed its second level of integration with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). Digi Locker’s secure cloud-based storage platform can now be used as a health locker to store and access health records such as vaccination records, doctor prescriptions, lab reports, hospital discharge summaries, and so on.

Ayushman Bharat Digital Health

The Government of India launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission on September 27, 2021. (ABDM). The mission’s goal was to provide all Indian citizens with a digital health ID that would allow easy access to medical records. This ID is a 14-digit identification number that is valid throughout India. As a result, you can share your health information with medical professionals all over India without regard for geography.

Digi Locker had previously completed level 1 integration with ABDM, allowing its 13 crore users to create ABHA or Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts. With the latest integration, users will be able to use Digi Locker as a Personal Health Records (PHR) app. In addition, ABHA holders can link their health records from various ABDM-registered health facilities, such as hospitals and labs, and access them through Digi Locker. Users can also scan and upload old medical records to the app. They can also share specific records with ABDM-registered healthcare professionals.

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is a National Health Authority initiative (NHA).It was launched in September 2021 by the Prime Minister through a video conference. The Government of India intends to significantly improve the efficiency of the country’s digital health infrastructure through this initiative. The term “digital health infrastructure” refers to the use of technology in the field of medicine and healthcare to improve the system’s effectiveness and transparency. Many fields, including finance, education, and commerce, have benefited from digitalization, emphasizing the significance of digitalization in the field of medicine. The Ayushman Digital Mission aims to strengthen India’s digital health ecosystem by providing Ayushman Digital Health IDs to all Indian citizens.
