The Government of India will soon come out with an 'Integrative Health Policy' for the health and wellness of public at large, informed Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya. According to the minister, it would be a joint initiative of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Ayush with a greater emphasis on integrative medicine and holistic health, as today’s primary need is to make every citizen of the country healthy.
Dr. Mandaviya said, the traditional medicine system of India has become India's strength and now the world has fully accepted it. For example, Yoga is considered to be the best when it comes to wellness, and is widely accepted across the globe. The minister added that majority of Japanese population regularly practice Yoga in some or other form for the health and wellness benefits.
Since, the world is now looking towards India with great expectations and lakhs of people from various parts of the world, are traveling to India every year for treatment in modern hospitals and Ayush hospitals, hence more integrative approach to health is very much needed.
Dr Mandaviya said that both the ministries have worked out over it and after the union cabinet approval, the policy will be implemented.
The minister addressed the gathering after the inauguration of the two-day National Ayush Mission (NAM) conclave in New Delhi on May 18. The conclave began with a commitment from the Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to priorities ‘Integrative Health’ for the health and wellness of public at large.
Union cabinet minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the conclave in presence of chief guest Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare. On this occasion two ICT initiatives of Ministry of Ayush were also launched.
Sonowal said, by encouraging Ayush and Health and Family Welfare Ministry to work in unison for health and wellness, India will lead the world on this front. He said, as both the ministries are working incessantly, our resolve and strength has grown manifold.
