Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Monday for the remainder of the Rajya Sabha's monsoon session. As soon as the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha started today, Sanjay Singh went very close to the Chairman's seat, demanding a discussion on the Manipur issue, and started raising slogans. The Chairman asked him to keep calm and requested him to go to his place, but he did not agree.

The Leader of the House, Piyush Goyal, brought a proposal in this regard to the House, which was approved by a voice vote. After that, the Asan suspended MP Sanjay Singh for the remaining period of the monsoon session on the charge of obstructing the proceedings of the House.

Singh said in his statement that the husband of the woman who was abused in Manipur is a retired subedar of the army who had participated in the Kargil war. This is a serious issue. There should be a discussion in the house.

On Monday, the opposition staged a protest in the Parliament House complex over the discussion on the Manipur issue in both Houses of Parliament. During the protest, Congress MP Manish Tewari said that the Prime Minister should make a comprehensive statement on the Manipur issue in both houses of Parliament. The opposition is continuously demanding discussion on this issue.

However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi says that on the Manipur viral video, the government is ready for discussion. He said that we are all sad about this issue and want discussion, but the opposition is running away from the discussion.

It is noteworthy that in Manipur, the case of two women being paraded naked has come to light. Ever since this video went viral on social media, the opposition has continuously criticised the central and state governments. However, the government says that the matter is being investigated. Strict action will be taken against those involved in this incident.

It is believed that the viral video is from May 4. The women who have been treated inhumanely are from the Kuki community. In Manipur, a rally was organised on May 3 to protest against the demand for inclusion of the Meitei community in the ST category. The rally was organised by the All Tribal Students union of Manipur. Violence broke out during the rally. So far, more than 100 people have been reportedly killed in this violence.
